American Jane Picnic Quilt // Finished Modern Quilt

Picnic in the park closeup.jpg

I started this quilt last July when my husband was on a business trip. A difficult pregnancy + insomnia convinced me I needed something happy to work on that week. My mother in law had bought me two charm packs of this great American Jane fabric several years ago. I pieced the top last summer and partially quilted it. Fast forward to the beginning of this month--I pulled it out, and realized that my piecing and quilting has gotten much better! Ha! It made me laugh to see my not so straight cross-hatch quilting over a patchwork quilt where many, but not all, of the corners line up. So, it is not my best pieced quilt, but the machine binding sure looks great! By far the best results on that front. I'm just happy to have something I can use all summer long, and I was happy not to be giving this one away.  We are planning to use it tomorrow on our picnic along the Potomac.
