DIY Preschool Quilt // Finished Modern Quilt

Preschool Quilt.jpg

My son is almost done with preschool--it is amazing how quickly a year can go by! Poof! Gone. We absolutely loved his teacher. She was one of those rare people that the instant you meet them, you think they are fabulous. I think she made a big difference in his transition to becoming an older brother, and she just exudes love for everyone.

I offered to make her a quilt as an end of year class gift from her two classes. I'm not sure what I was thinking (I stayed up until 3am to finish it one night), but I am so glad that I did. I did have a slightly panicky feeling at the end of year party--one of the moms came up to me and said, "Oh, what class is your son going to be in next year? We know who is getting a quilt!" Oh no! I'm going to become "that mom." I explained that this was a one time deal, and I was not starting a tradition. We'll see, I'm sure.

I used the Whimsy collection by Fig Tree Quilts and "raw edge appliqued" the (teeny tiny) hands onto the quilt. More on the process later...
