Double Hourglass Quilt // Works in Progress

IMG_46393.jpg

Tip #1: If you are sewing double hourglass blocks into a quilt top, and your family is engaged in a raucous and entertaining card game at the same time, take an extra minute to make sure your seams match. Or, you will end up as I did last night, halfway through quilting when you realize you have one or two seams that are totally off. Alas. I hope to finish the binding tonight.

Tip #2: I'm sure everyone has a thank you note they have been meaning to write, but just haven't. I was the lucky recipient of one of the early model Bernina sewing machines last summer, as the result of a friend retiring and moving away. I meant to send her a housewarming gift and thank you, and a note telling her what an inspiration she was to me. I didn't. Today, I found out I'm too late. So do me a favor, go home tonight, sit down, write it, and stick it in the mail. I have a few I am writing tonight...
