(Note: The quilt pattern is called 1000 Pyramids--it is so much easier than it looks. I just made my own template and went for it.)

I spent much of yesterday playing with kids and sewing binding on a few smaller projects while listening to talks (and even a sermon or two) during the semi-annual LDS General Conference. My favorite sermon was also given by a family friend (and the man who performed our wedding), Bishop David Burton. He spoke on charity--to paraphrase, no matter what else we may do, if we are not able to feed the hungry, help the poor, and comfort the weary, then we will have failed as a people and as a church. In a time of need in Japan and throughout the world, including in our own communities, his talk struck a chord with me.
Note: Speaking of helping those in need, today is the kick-off day for  {Modern} Relief--Japan.   There are some beautiful quilts being raffled off--the entry fee is $10. Go check them out--all money is being donated to efforts in Japan.

I'm going to put this in the mail today, a whole week before the deadline! I also made my partner a mug rug out of my failed lonestar quilt attempt. I loved the palette too much to throw the whole thing away.
