Summer All Voile Quilt // Finished Modern Quilts

IMG_56191.jpg

This is the quilt I made for my daughter to replace her flannel and minky winter-weight quilt she insisted on sleeping with.  A Virginia summer + flannel quilt just doesn't work.  I bought several half yards of Anna Maria Horner's Little Folks voile at Christmas time when it went on sale. I knew that if I did something more intricate than a simple strip quilt, I wouldn't finish the quilt until the fall. I lost it for a month, and was happy to baste and quilt it with friends a few weeks ago, and finish the binding on the way to the triathlon.  Seriously, have you ever lost a pieced quilt top and back? I found it in the garage in a paper bag. I'm lucky it didn't get thrown away. I usually use Warm & Natural batting; I splurged on this and bought Quilter's Dream (lightweight, but not the lightest weight.) The back is a single piece of voile--the blue honeycomb flowers--I didn't want it to have any seams. I love it. She loves it. The perfect summer quilt.

Yes, we took quilt pictures at the pool today--T and & I both needed to take pictures, and we were going to the pool, so why not, right? It was the perfect day at the pool :)
