KJR for the Summer Sampler Series // Color My Quilt

This is my very large stack of fabric for the Summer Sampler Series--it is from the Katie Jump Rope line by Denyse Schmidt. I have had most of these pieces for… a really long time. I used some in one of my favorite quilts, Community Gardens, and bits and pieces here and there. I’m excited to get started !

I hope you have a relaxing holiday weekend. I think we plan to brave the crowds and ride our bikes downtown (with kids in tow) with friends to see the fireworks on Monday. Last time we experienced DC fireworks, there was a tornado warning and we ended up with 30,000 of our best friends inside the Natural History Museum for two hours… better luck this time, I hope!

I love the Community Garden quilt!! I have been involved with community gardens for almost 10 years. I even started one in my last town- I didn’t have to buy potatoes for the year!! This year I am involved in a community garden in partnership with the Salvation Army. Our city donated the land and water and there is a core group who have individual plots and then we all work together at weeding and watering. I also have a little garden in our yard. Your quilt is getting the wheels of creativity going!! I am also planning for the summer sampler series- the perfect challenge for that skill building you have been talking about.
