The block that Lee is showcasing today is incredible! Go check it out if you haven’t already–diamonds with just a touch of paper piecing. While on the subject of paper piecing, I am almost done with the star block (block #5). I’ve spent a bit of time paper piecing a possible quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap, and I need some advice. Would you include bits and pieces of the Coreopsis in lime from Anna Maria Horner’s Loulouthi, or would you stick with the solids (Painter’s Canvas by Laura Gunn). I would never be able to make precise blocks of this size without paper piecing, so I’m grateful for my newly learned skill.
And finally, just an acknowledgment that life is complicated, and life is messy. I wish it wasn’t so, but I guess if everything was clean and simple, then we wouldn’t have opportunities for growth. Sometimes, we take our kids to the pool instead of finishing our blocks, sometimes best friends move, sometimes sisters move, sometimes they move in the same week (so if you run into me next week in person or online and I”m unseasonably grumpy, there you go), sometimes you make tough choices and you don’t know if you are right or wrong, sometimes you sit in a sauna and realize it is the exact same temperature outside, sometimes in an attempt to validate one person, another is demonized, sometimes kids get sick, and sometimes houses are messy. I should be back later this afternoon with two Summer Sampler blocks to show, and a much cheerier attitude. Off to run off my uncertainty and then splash around in the pool for a few hours.

But, but, not ALL the friends are leaving.
My vote is for the LouLouthi but I am very biased toward that line.
I’m going to just take this personally and say, thanks for this, Kate. Life is messy and not always easy and we all are far from perfect. Hope your mood improves. I’m going to go work on today’s block. Yeah!
So sorry that we are one piece of the messy morning. I hope the rest of your day was much more productive.
I agree with Becky. LouLouthi is a must especially if it for a doll quilt/girl. It gives it a feminine touch.
I love the addition of the LouLouthi print. Hope your weekend is cathartic.
