Emerald Isle // Finished Modern Quilt

This is my Emerald Isle quilt. I finished clipping threads at the park today–thankfully, the weather was nice and the kids were happy. I promised my son that I wouldn’t sew, at all, today. He told me that as long as we were at the park, finishing it up was okay, which I appreciated. We dropped it off at the post office, and hopefully it makes it quickly to its far-away destination. I loved making this quilt–I need some lessons in hand quilting, but it has been fun to build my skills this summer. Paper-pieced and hand quilted? Who is this person? Or as my dad said last week, “Of all the things I thought you would be doing in your 30s, this wasn’t one of them.  But I got a quilt out of it, so I’m glad you are.”

That is so funny. Two weeks ago, my mother told me, “Never in my life would I have thought you’d be quilting”! Ha, doesn’t that make you feel so good. Love the colors and the hand stitching.

Beautiful quilt! Handstitching I like but paper piecing is still unknown for me.
