100 Quilts for Kids: Link Up Your Quilts!

Hip, Hip, Hurray! The first link-up for 100 Quilts for Kids starts today. I have been talking and thinking about this for such a long time, I can’t believe the day is finally here. If you have donated a quilt to a child in need in the last 2 weeks, you are eligible for some fun prizes.  Please copy and paste a link to a picture of your quilt (posted on a website, blog, photobucket, flickr account (free to sign up), etc.) at the bottom of this post.  If you aren’t able to link up, but have a picture of the quilt, you can always email it to me (swimbikequilt at gmail dot com) and I can link up for you.  Thanks so much for stopping by, for making a quilt, for making the world a bit of a better place for a child in your community, for sharing your talents, and for inspiring me in so many ways.

If you don’t have access to any of these, you can email me a picture and I can link up for you. If I contact you to tell you that you have won a prize, please let me know who you donated the quilt to, and when. Thanks!]

Basic Information
Make a quilt. Donate said quilt to an organization in your community. Link up here to be eligible for prizes! More information here. If you don’t have someone in mind for your quilt, try the local women’s or homeless shelter, children’s hospital, foster care program, etc.  Other good options (and there are many) include Project Linus, Margaret’s Hope Chest, Central Texas Wildfire Quilt Drive, and Quilt Bug’s NE Flood Victim Quilt Drive.  The more quilts you make, the better your chances of winning a prize. I know it isn’t why we make charity quilts, but it is a fun incentive. A full list of sponsors and prizes is available here.

October 1: Mini-Prize drawing for 1st Link Up Dates

If you link up a finished quilt September 28-30, you are eligible to win one of the many prizes that will be drawn October 15. There will ALSO be five drawings for the prizes below (announced on October 1), kind of an early bird gets the worm extra incentive :)

Denyse Schmidt Quilts – four patterns & DS needlebooks

Easily Distracted Debra – Munki Munki Pjs & copy of Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross
Green Bee Patterns by Alexia Abegg- (3) patterns, winner’s choice
In Color Order – Vintage Wrapped Wreath kit

How to Link Up
Thanks again!  You don’t have to write a new post for this link up, but please make sure to add something/mention 100 Quilts for Kids with a link back here–it might inspire a few more quilters to donate quilts.  Just copy and paste the url for your picture below.

Note: The quilt doesn’t have to be made in the time frame, just donated sometime between September 15 and October 15 to a child in your community!

In order to link up multiple quilts from one blog post, follow these steps:
Click on the photo in your blog post so that it opens in a new window, copy link
Click on the InLinkz button
Copy and paste link, fill in other information with name and email
Hit Next
On the tab at the top, hit “direct link” and then copy and paste your link.
As long as you include your email address, I will be able to contact you if you win a prize.

I hope you take a minute or two to click on some of these links–there are some really tender stories behind some of these quilts.  Please email me with any questions, or leave a comment, and I’ll get back to you shortly.

Wow! I can’t believe I am the first to join this linky party! I am so happy I finished in time and so excited to be part of such a great event. This has been a great personal experience. Thank you!

I don’t know how to add more than one photo to linky – but that’s ok – quilts are on my blog.

    Sharon, I’m working on it!!

Sharon-there is an option for a “direct image URL.” I clicked on the picture of your quilt on your blog, then put that URL in the direct image URL option. I think it worked!

Just a question — do quilts that were completed last year, but not donated until yesterday count? (I’m not after prizes, just trying to add to the eye candy if it’s appropriate!)

Michelle–yes! As long as the quilt was donated within the time frame, it “counts.” And I know no one is after the prizes, but I’m glad to offer a fun incentive thanks to the generous sponsors :)

Thanks for hosting this Kate. Two sweet little ones (and their families) at the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center will hopefully be enjoying these quilts now.

Gah! Of course I had to screw up the picture link. Can you fix it for me please?
