100 Quilts for Kids // 2011 Link Up

Note: I extended the link up to 10/15/11 at 8pm ET; got more than a few emails saying people were just putting binding on quilts :)

I can't believe that the last 100 Quilts for Kids link up starts today! I have had such a fun time working on this project, and have been so inspired not only by the beautiful quilts that have popped up in the 100 Quilts Flickr Group, but also by the stories I have heard and read on your blogs. Thank you for sharing your quilts and your time with children in our communities who could use a little bit of extra love in their lives. 

Believe it or not, I actually have been working on 100 Quilts quilts, but I have a long way to go on 2 of them to get them finished and donated by Saturday, October 15.  This is one of my favorites--a simple strip quilt in bright and cheery fall colors. Most of the fabric was donated by Del Ray Fabrics--I just added a strip here and there.  If you are local-- DC Modern is collecting quilts to donate at our meet up this Saturday, 10:30-12:30 (or thereabouts) on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. We will be having a picnic, practicing some hand sewing, and doing a DC Quilt photo shoot. Fun, no? If you are in the area, come!

 All of the great prizes up for grab (and there are a ton of them!!!) are pictured on the 100 Quilts Sponsors Post--if you linked up last month, no need to link up again, you are still eligible for these prizes. The link up is open now and closes at 12pm on Saturday, October 15.  

How to Link Up

Thanks again!  You don't have to write a new post for this link up, but please make sure to add something/mention 100 Quilts for Kids with a link back here--it might inspire a few more quilters to donate quilts.  Just copy and paste the url for your picture, which can be from a blog, flickr, photobucket, etc., below.


If you linked up your quilt last time, you don't need to link up the same quilt again... you have already been entered for prizes for this round. 

Note: The quilt doesn't have to be made in the time frame, just donated sometime between September 15 and October 15 to a child in your community!

In order to link up multiple quilts from one blog post, follow these steps: 
Click on the photo in your blog post so that it opens in a new window, copy link
Click on the InLinkz button
Copy and paste link, fill in other information with name and email
Hit Next
On the tab at the top, hit "direct link" and then copy and paste your link.
As long as you include your email address, I will be able to contact you if you win a prize.

Basic Information

Make a quilt. Donate said quilt to an organization in your community. Link up here to be eligible for prizes! More information here. If you don't have someone in mind for your quilt, try the local women's or homeless shelter, children's hospital, foster care program, etc.  Other good options (and there are many) include Project Linus, Margaret's Hope Chest, Central Texas Wildfire Quilt Drive, and Quilt Bug's NE Flood Victim Quilt Drive.  The more quilts you make, the better your chances of winning a prize. I know it isn't why we make charity quilts, but it is a fun incentive.

Note as of 10/15/11: I deleted links if the same quilt was also linked up on the 9/30 link up party--as long as you are linked up once, you are eligible for prizes. Thanks!
