Garden Windows: A Blogger's Quilt Festival Quilt

quiltongate1.jpg

Today is one of my favorite days in the blogging world--the semi-annual Blogger's Quilt Festival hosted by Amy Ellis. This quilt, called Garden Windows, is a little different than the other quilts I have shared in the past (Strawberry Patch,  Around the World and Community Gardens). It is actually in Houston at the International Quilt Festival this very moment, floating somewhere between Laura Gunn's Schoolhouse and one of the Michael Miller booths. Laura's Schoolhouse is about using quilting fabric in home decor projects. You should check out her daughter Lily's room, newly made over in one of the other Garden Wall colorways. It is beautiful!I loved the saturated color of these prints, and wanted to design a quilt that celebrated color. I paired a number of the Garden Wall prints with her Painter's Canvas solids, set them on point, and voila! Here it is.  There is a free project download for the quilt, and a tutorial will be up on my blog November 15, 2011.Special thanks to Cindy Luby (who quilted Garden Windows) and Faith at Fresh Lemons (who designed the project sheet). Once you have had a quilt professionally long armed (my first!), how on earth do you go back? If you are interested in tweets from Quilt Market, I'm at @SwimBikeQuilt.Happy sewing, everyone
