Cosmos Quilt

I love to make baby quilts--they are often simple, use favorite fabrics, and are stitched with love. Baby quilts always seem hopeful to me--something about providing something handmade for a tiny baby makes me happy.

My friend Tricia and I got together in September (!) to stitch up this quilt top. We used our friend Laura's fabulous line, Cosmos, paired it with some of her Painter's Canvas (I think I sneak these into almost every quilt I make), and made a plus quilt similar to this one. This quilt was gifted to our friend Brooke just prior to the birth of her beautiful daughter, and then we whisked it back so it could travel to Houston and sit in Laura's booth at International Quilt Market. I was so happy to recently give it back to Brooke, and wanted to share a few pictures I snapped first. I thought for sure Brooke knew the quilt was for her when she commented on it on our IG feeds, but was happy to see her so pleasantly surprised. Yay!

I used a lemon yellow thread to quilt vertical lines through most of the quilt. I used a coral thread to quilt through the Painter's Canvas Peach cross, and then quilted horizontal lines just in the cross. I thought it gave the quilt an added punch! Tricia used Painter's Canvas in Aqua for the binding, and we added some scraps to one of the Cosmos prints for the back! A happy, not too girl, baby quilt.
