Desert Stars // Finished Modern Quilt
I love the traditional "kite" block and have wanted to make a quilt like this for two years. I'm grateful for the Quilt Con deadline to make that actually happen! [QuiltCon is The Modern Quilt Guild's inaugural show which will be held in February in Austin--juried quilts, classes galore, lectures, vendors, sponsors... I think it sounds like a grand time.] I'm already working on a second one (in my head, of course).
I entered this quilt in the Dear Stella Challenge category for Quilt Con... I love the Maasai Mara fabrics in this colorway, and enjoyed pairing a variety of neutral and aqua and lime solids with the fabrics. I think the binding print is my favorite of the collection, and I had a great time quilting it, particularly in the bottom left hand corner.
