In the summer of 2011 Faith of Fresh Lemons Quilts and Lee of Freshly Pieced and I co-hosted the Summer Sampler Series quilt-along! At the time, modern traditionalism was just starting to catch on; many quilters were just starting to realize that traditional blocks are a great source of design inspiration. Now, a year and a half later, there is an entire category of the Quilt Con show dedicated to “modern traditionalism!

Since then, we have received a number of requests for the Summer Sampler Series tutorials, paper-piecing templates, tips, and more in one convenient package. We are excited to announce that the Summer Sampler Series Anthology, a pdf download, is available for just $9.99! You can purchase the Summer Sampler Series Anthology here:
The Summer Sampler Series is an excellent skillbuilder–you learn (or can practice) a variety of skills including half-square triangles, flying geese, bias piecing, paper-piecing, piecing equilateral triangles and diamonds, hourglass units, and string piecing. The pdf is 86 pages with 150 full color pictures, block and paper piecing instructions, templates, and helpful hints! Lee has done most (all!) of the work, and her background in design shows. The Anthology itself is really beautiful.

Teachers, shop owners, and guilds: Would you like to teach the Summer Sampler Series as a class, or run it as a block-of-the-month series? Purchasing copies of the Summer Sampler Series Anthology for all of your participants gives you full permission to teach the series publicly, and we offer discount pricing on the purchase of four or more copies. Email Faith, Lee, or myself for more information.

Note: The tutorials will still be available on our blogs–the pdf is for sewists who want the convenience of everything in one place, or would like to teach the series. Happy sewing!

Very cool! That was a super fun quilt along!! Congrats!
You must have put so much work into this! It looks great, Katie!
Hi Katie: I just purchased the pdf download and cannot wait to work on these blocks. I’ve made a few of the paper pieced blocks from Faith over Fresh Lemons and maybe my guild in Jacksonville will want to work on the sampler as a group project.
