How to use it (per the manufacturer)"Use it to position your machine's needle exactly where you need it as well as to check the accuracy of your needle's position. You can position your needle perfectly for a scant 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8" or 3/4" seam. It has a ruler with markings to 1/8" and the 45-degree end is very useful when piecing your binding strips together."
Does it work?Yes. It's easy to use.When would I use it? I stuck mine seam guide in the sewing kit I take to guild meetings, classes, etc. I used it to get to know my new machine (more on that later!), to make sure the 1/4'' foot was accurate, and to easily mark a 5/8'' seam on my machine with washi tape. I think it would be especially useful if you are sewing on a machine you haven't used, or trying to teach someone how to sew accurate seams.
