{reversible} Summer Tote Tutorial + Giveaway

reversiblesummertote_tutorial_swimbikequilt_bag
Introducing the {reversible} Summer Tote.  A few months ago,  Benartex sent me several yards of one of their new collections, The Big Apple.  I used a few of the prints to make the perfect summer tote–lightweight, casual,  holds a lot of library books (tested by my 6 year old), and reversible. I ended up making one for my son, one for my daughter’s preschool teacher, and one (slightly bigger one) for me!

You can find the {reversible} Summer Tote tutorial on the Benartex blog.

benartex_bigapple_swimbikequilt_giveaway

Benartex has a small collection of novelty prints that are more modern than the rest of their collections.  I’m giving away a fat quarter bundle of The Big Apple by Greta Lynn for Kanvas/Benartex. I love these NYC novelty prints, and think a few are excellent additions to a low volume collection.  The prints  are also available in bright, summery colors (see the subway print below).   The Big Apple is available at Fabric.com, and possibly elsewhere.

Happy sewing.

What a great bundle of fabric – not what I would expect from Benartex, but I really like it! I am a subway girl. I have only taken a taxi once and it was in a dire pinch (have to save the $$$ for fabric, of course!). Thanks for sharing your great tote and for the chance to win!

We were lucky enough to visit New York for the first time last summer. We just had to take a yellow cab from the airport into the city, we were the classic Brits on holiday! From then on we took the subway, you really can’t experience a city from the back of a cab, we just loved it. I’m going to make this tote for a friends daughter who is starting her first job as a teacher, thanks for the chance xx

NYC is my favorite place on earth. Riding on the subway feels like an adventure to this Southern Californian/rural Oregonian, but taking the taxi always introduces us to the most interesting drivers, so either way is good by me.

Great fabric! I am just starting to gather fabric for a New York quilt for my daughter who is planning on going there after graduation. I am thinking I would use a combination of walking and the subway to explore the city.

I would have to say taxi. Contrary to the reputation of New York cabbies, I have never had one that wasn’t polite and friendly. Most of them had English as a second language and still spoke better English than the average high school student.

Thank for the giveaway. The choice is easy: subway (thought I live in the city so I may be biased….)!

Subway or taxi. Bikers are very brave souls to ride in NYC. I used to work in the city & took the subway daily. I have to admit that I’m glad I don’t do that anymore. I’d love to win & use the fabrics to make something for my niece who is moving to NYC to go to Columbia grad school.

I like the taxi best because you can see all the sites while going to your destination.

Subway! I’m going to be there this fall for a long weekend and subway is the best way to travel in that city.

I’ve never been on a subway or taxi so I’d like those just to experience it. However, I think biking would be pretty awesome through Central Park.

Thanks for the tutorial and the chance to win this cute bundle! My youngest daughter loved her visit to New York last year and I would love to make something for her with these fabrics. I would choose to travel by subway to get a better ‘feel’ for the city.
