Talking about Quilts // Favorite Things

Quilts_And_Publishing_SwimBikeQuiltA few weeks ago, I spent a Friday night talking with the Sister's Choice Quilt Guild (Falls Church, VA) about Quilts + the Publishing Process--specifically self-publishing (blogs & patterns), in magazines, in anthologies or a pattern in a book, and finally,  books themselves. I also spent quite a bit of time talking  about modern + traditional quilts, which is probably the space that I feel most comfortable in.I realized that night that I enjoy talking about quilts, the process, their history, different genres, etc. almost as much as I like actually sewing. I learned so much from observing the Sister's Choice guild in action, and I really had a great night. I'm going to be giving a similar version of the talk  to the DC Modern Quilt Guild at an upcoming meeting, and I look forward to seeing how the conversation differs from the Sister's Choice guild, if at all.PaddleBoats_TidalBasin_SwimBikeQuiltAnd you know I can't write a Favorite Things post without an "adventure" picture, so here it is. A few weeks ago we rented a paddleboat on the Tidal Basin (right next to the Jefferson Memorial, pictured here). It was hot and paddleboats are clunky, but the view was spectacular and the company was happy, which is always a plus! Happy Friday, friends.
