Yesterday, Pam, Laura and I met at Cindy's house to sew and catch up a bit. I saw some adorable boxy zipper pouches on Cindy's instagram feed over the weekend and begged her to teach me! Happily, she obliged.  We used this tutorial from Pretty Modern with a few modifications, including using fusible fleece with both the lining and the feature fabric to give it a little more structure.  I will make the handle a bit longer next time, but really wanted to use this polka dot from Cindy's scrap bin, so we made it work.Boxy_Zipper_Pouch_2_SwimBikeQuiltI started with a 12'' zipper (love the metal zippers, I just need to remember I can't sew over them), so the pouch is on the larger side.  I added some treats and hope to drop it off to a friend soon in celebration of the birth of her new baby boy. I have to admit, once you make one, you want to make about 100 more. I even went to Joanns yesterday and bought fusible fleece and a seam roll yesterday. I see many more of these in my future!A few more thoughts:1. It feels good to sew and to want to sew! Yesterday was my first time sewing since a few weeks before Quilt Market. Who knows, I might actually write up my experience about Quilt Market tomorrow.2. This is a seam roll. I might be the only quilter in the world who has never seen one, but they are pretty cool!
