Charleston Square Quilt // Finished Modern Quilt

SwimBikeQuilt_KatieBlakesley_CharlestonSquare_quilt_pattern_15.jpg

Hurray! A finished quilt! This quilt is called Charleston Square, and made with super-sized blocks from my Charleston Square Tutorial I posted last summer.  I have a fun pattern in the works for this quilt, until I hit a road block in terms of poor health and moving to Oregon. The good news is, we made it to Oregon. The funny news is, I remembered I needed to photograph this quilt 15 minutes AFTER the movers showed up last Saturday, so I took it outside for the most impromptu iphone photoshoot ever. Hopefully I can share better photos when we get our stuff in a few months

.Today I am sharing a quilt I made with these beautiful RJR’s Cotton Supreme Solids as part of their What Shade Are You? Blog Hop.   I love working with solids, and I'm a fan of these.  They have a nice hand (they aren’t flimsy) but still manage to be pretty soft, and even have a slight sheen to them.As a bonus, there are lots of really beautiful, saturated colors to choose from with a nice selection of neutrals.  RJR Fabrics has a special section on FB dedicated to the blog hop that showcases the various projects.I finished everything but machine sewing the binding to the front of the quilt back in March, and then got really sick for a few months. Thank you, RJR, for pushing off my date until today. The good news is, you can peruse all of the other projects now since this is the last stop.I quilted lines about 1/3 of an inch apart over the blocks, and quilted a square-ish meander in the negative space. I backed the quilt in the Turks and Caicos solid, and its going to be soft and nice once it is washed and dried.RJR is giving away a FQ bundle of the fabric I used. Please leave me a comment ( US and Canada only) and let me know what size quilt you like making best.  I will draw a winner after the holiday weekend (Tuesday the 8th).

The solids I used are below (love the names!)

292 Turks & Caicos (this is the backing and binding)
