Cotton + Steel Baby Quilt // Finished Modern Quilt

A few weeks ago, I shared a progress post about this quilt, made for my sweet new niece. My husband was headed to visit family, and I literally finished sewing the binding on 2 minutes before we left for the airport. We snapped a quick shot or two in the fog with my phone, and away it went! [I wish I would have pressed it before taking the picture, but better it make it for the baby shower than be perfectly pressed for photos, right?]

My sister-in-law loves stripes, and I had this stripe in my stash (Aneela Hoey, Posy) that matched the Cotton and Steel basics almost perfectly! Win, win.  I might have chopped 4 inches off the side of the quilt (without thinking) just so that it fit with this beautiful Anna Maria Horner Little Folks voile fabric (my favorite print from that line) I used a Quilter's Dream super light batting, and only quilted it in straight lines every 4 to 8 inches.

I wanted it to drape more like a blankie than a quilt, if that makes sense.  It is the same combination I used in my daughter's All Voile quilt in 2011, which means I have had this backing since 2011. Oops! Glad to use it.
