As crazy as it sounds, school starts next week. Next week! I have been lucky to get a lot of sewing in this summer, partly because I have gotten up a little earlier than normal, and partly because I have had a 10-12 hours a week nanny for a few weeks this summer. My kids LOVE their college-aged babysitter, and I might love her even more. She played with them, took them to lessons, fed them, helped them, and made them feel important and loved. What more could you want?

Quilt Market 3 Printshop Fabric

Over the last 8 months, I have finished a number of works in progress, finally made a giant picnic quilt and a quilt for my bed (that has been years in the making). I’ve almost finished a few quilt patterns, and I’ve kept my sewing room pretty clean. I have actually SEWN with fabric I bought at sample spree at Quilt Market, including a few projects with Printshop, by Alexia Abegg for Cotton and Steel, pictured above. Miracles, people. Miracles. I hope to share some of the sewing I have been doing in the coming weeks, but with the start of school (2 of my kids will be going all day), Ive been thinking about what I really want to sew.

Quilt Market

I would love to make a quilt with curves, something like this one (found in the Quilt Market Kokka booth), or something similar to one of Latifah Saafir’s quilts. She makes the coolest quilts!

Quilt Market 2

I can’t decide if the Rifle Paper Co. fabric is something I love, or not. But I am imagining a really sweet baby blanket using these prints.

What about you? Do you have any projects you would love to make, if you could only find the time? I propose we all make the time, and make something beautiful, one stitch at a time!

That is a cool pile of fabrics that you have wrapped up at the top. I like all of the colors and now I want one!!
The rifle paper fabrics are very pretty, some I like, but I have to really think of something special to use them. hmmmm. Some of them are very pretty, and there are a few that I would never use, but someone would make something fabulous with them. I like them on these blocks on the wall 😀 😀 😀

It is great to have help over summer. I know the kids did too. It is such a blessing when they are in good hands that you trust. I know that feeling.

thanks–I’m still on the fence about the rifle paper. And yes–someone you trust that loves your kids = the best thing in the world.

I love the idea of hiring a little help every week to come play with the kids! I seriously need to figure out a way to make that work. My project piles are out of control.
Congrats on getting so much done this summer!

everyone in my family has been happier this summer. Sales from the Summer Sampler 2016 gave me the ability to hire a little help. If you can swing it, I highly recommend it!

I’m in love with some of the Rife Paper prints. I really want some of the non-cotton substrates for clothing.

I have lots of projects I would love to make. Starting this month I’m taking some time off from work each week to sew and create. Can’t wait to see what I can get done with uninterrupted creative time.

Congrats on your finishes! Has to feel amazing to finally tackle them.
