What Do You Wish You Were Sewing???

Nani-Iro-Fabric.jpg

what do I want to make? a nani iro quilt. just for me.

As crazy as it sounds, school starts next week. Next week! I have been lucky to get a lot of sewing in this summer, partly because I have gotten up a little earlier than normal, and partly because I have had a 10-12 hours a week nanny for a few weeks this summer. My kids LOVE their college-aged babysitter, and I might love her even more. She played with them, took them to lessons, fed them, helped them, and made them feel important and loved. What more could you want?

Over the last 8 months, I have finished a number of works in progress, finally made a giant picnic quilt and a quilt for my bed (that has been years in the making). I've almost finished a few quilt patterns, and I've kept my sewing room pretty clean. I have actually SEWN with fabric I bought at sample spree at Quilt Market, including a few projects with Printshop, by Alexia Abegg for Cotton and Steel, pictured above. Miracles, people. Miracles. I hope to share some of the sewing I have been doing in the coming weeks, but with the start of school (2 of my kids will be going all day), Ive been thinking about what I really want to sew.I would love to make a quilt with curves, something like this one (found in the Quilt Market Kokka booth), or something similar to one of Latifah Saafir's quilts. She makes the coolest quilts!I can't decide if the Rifle Paper Co. fabric is something I love, or not. But I am imagining a really sweet baby blanket using these prints. What about you? Do you have any projects you would love to make, if you could only find the time? I propose we all make the time, and make something beautiful, one stitch at a time!
