Linky Party: The Other Side of the Quilt

 [back from Low Definition 2]

Over the last few weeks, I have been trying to pay more attention to the other side of the quilt–the quilt back! I have been perusing instagram, flickr, and quilt blogs, and thought it would be fun to put together a collection of inspiring pieced quilt backs.

I need your help for that! I hope you will link up a pieced quilt back (or 10) that you have made. The linky party starts today and I plan to leave it open for a few months.  Add quilt backs as you make them! Instructions  on how to “link up” are at the end of this post, and please link back to this post or my blog on your blog or flickr. Thanks in advance!

I’m including a few pieced quilt backs I have made over years. Happy sewing!

Often, when I am finished with the front of a quilt, I just want to get it done. I have spent all of my creativity (and sometimes patience) on the front. However, the fun, modern, and beautiful pieced quilt backs I have added to my Pinterest board (The Other Side of the Quilt) have inspired me a little more thoughtful as I make the quilt back.

I’ll be back next week with some tips for piecing quilt backs–until then, thanks for linking up your quilts!

P.S.  Rita from Red Pepper Quilts often pieces her quilt backs, and they are always beautiful. I resisted pinning all of them to my board, but check them out– here are a few favorites– Lady of the Lake, Nursery Versery Quilt, and Bayou.

P.P.S. Here is the back of the quilt I just finished quilting! It’s a little crazy, but I was happy to use up the 3 blue fat quarters. Love them!

My link didn’t upload the photo but if you click on the NoThumbnail it will bring you to my Flickr page and you can see the back there.

Thanks. Me too, and it’s nice to have it all in one place! So many talented quilters out there. The quilt backs you linked up are stunning.

Thanks for the one stop place for Quilt Back inspiration. I knew I had a few that stuck in my mind over the years but was surprised at how many once I went looking- and also how bad I am at photographing and tagging my quilt backs.

This is a great idea and I will link up some backs I have done. I often find myself stalled making a quilt because I have to make the back and either don’t want to or have no ideas or just want to hurry to the quilting part. Thank you for the inspiration.

What a fun idea for a linky party! I’m sharing links for posts I’ve already written. However, if you have a button for your blog or for this link party I’d be more than happy to add that to my blog sidebar. :-)

This would be a great idea for a weekly linky blog party as well!

Thanks for the party. My back quilts use to be only one piece and now I got great ideas!

Thanks for this – fabulous idea. I usually keep mine pretty simple and wonky as I’m useless as lining the back up. One day…! :)

PS…I create a little sidebar button on my blog…mostly for my own convenience…but to share your cool link up. Stop by:

LOVE this post! I have been thinking about this very subject lately. An interesting quilt back always makes for a better quilt!

I Love this link up! Sometimes the backs of quilts are so neglected! Not with me! I think 9 out of 10 of my quilt backs have some sort of surprise…

I’ve had a pinterest page for quilt backs for some time now. You might find some ones you like there …

I loved this linky party that you hosted. It was so much fun seeing what people did on the backs of their quilts. Any chance you are thinking about hosting another “the other side of the quilt” party?
