Summer Sampler 2016 // Canyon Mini Quilt
This is the Canyon Mini Quilt that I made for the Salt Lake Modern Quilt Guild's Mini Swap a few months ago. I used new Printshop fabric designed by Alexia Abegg for Cotton and Steel, and I just love how it turned out!A fun bonus to the weekly Summer Sampler 2016 block patterns--we provide a mockup of a modern quilt made with that week's block. We don't provide instructions, but rather a graphic, showing one possible way to use that week's block
This is the mini quilt I made from the mockup that I put together using Amy Smart's Corner Canyon block. Since this is a mini quilt, all of those little half square triangles are pretty small. I used the 2 1/2'' Bloc-Loc ruler to trim all of my half square triangles. I am a huge Bloc-Loc fan. They are pricey, but they have a groove that fits right in the seam, and allows for quick trimming and accurate half square triangles.
Bloc-Loc did not sponsor this post, the company does not even know that I'm mentioning them. I just really, really love the rulers). You can see the quilting details here, and I used a fun text print from Windham Fabrics (that comes in 108'' wide) for the backing.I am happy to say that the quilt was a hit at the swap, which always makes you feel good!Happy sewing, friends.
