Visit the Washington Monument // Favorite Things

Mr. L and I spent the day together today. It was a beautiful thing. Dad and the baby were gone, so I let Mr. L. pick the day's itinerary. His choice? He wanted to go to the top of the Washington Monument. And get hot chocolate--before lunch!  He's my kind of kid! After going to the top of the monument, we headed to Union Station to check out the Christmas tree and train exhibit. And of course, to get some hot chocolate. We ended our adventure at the US Botanic Gardens. It is one of my favorite spots in the District, and doubly so during the holidays. The gardens have literally hundreds of poinsettias, holiday miniatures of major Washington monuments and sites, a beautiful Christmas tree, and multiple trains running through miniatures of famous world landmarks--the Hagia Sophia, Eiffel Tower, and Sphinx were some of our favorite. Add the holiday decor to the warm, misty botanic garden air, and its a magical place.
