On the Trail to Lake Mendota // The Great Outdoors

It sounds like a place in a Wendell Berry novel, no? The kids and I are visiting family in Madison, Wisconsin. When we drove up to my sister-in-law's place, her friend pulled up and delivered Em's sewing machine on her bike. My first thought--I'm going to like this place! Throw in two full afternoons at the playground one hundred yards from her house, community gardens just beyond that, a fun morning at a fabulous children's museum, and a trail that leads to the lake nearby and sunshine, and well, I think we are going to be very happy here. Let's just hope I can make it home later in the week before the cousins get too sick of us!
