Cherry BlossomsSpring in the DC area is an explosion of blossoms, colors, sights and smells. I'm fortunate that my allergies are pretty minimal, so I can appreciate the cherry blossoms, magnolias, flowering dogwoods, etc. wholeheartedly.DC, especially the Tidal Basin, is known for it's stunning annual Cherry Blossom Festival, featuring the trees gifted to the nation's capital by the Japanese government in 1912. This year, due to unseasonable cold and hot weather, the peak date that originally was set for March 26 was changed to this week.  The kids and I went downtown last Friday, but there were only a handful of trees in bloom.  I was a little sad, because it was our only time to make it to the Festival. Instead, I've appreciated the impressive display of blossoms in our neighborhood. My daughter and I went on two bike + trailer rides (still working on rehabbing my leg) this week, and it's a nice reminder that sometimes, you can find what you are looking for in your own backyard. I need to remember that more often.Previous Cherry Blossom posts here and hereLove Sarah's Magnolia shots hereNote: The winner of the free month of the Threadbias Design Tool is Julie De Pauw! thanks, everyone!
