The Great Outdoors and Spring // Favorite Things

photo 4(1)

I feel a bit like a broken record, but spring has come to the eastern United States, and after a hot and humid flash, we are back to perfect temperatures. I've spent the last few weeks trying to spend as little time inside as possible (besides class prep and book edits).  I'm still rehabbing my calf, and have learned that physical therapy is not for the faint of heart.  I went on my first road-bike ride in almost a year this week, and could still walk afterwards, so I'm calling it a win! Public Service Announcement: If your life gets really crazy for a year or so and you have to cut something out, take it from me. Don't cut exercise.  Find something else. The end.

Our time lately has been spent at the National Zoo (with  a quick side trip to see the tulips at the Netherland Carillon), baseball practice, the park with friends, and a really hokey pop up carnival that the kids loved (hold on to your wallet!)

netherlandscarillonHopefully I'll be back next week with a post or two about the classes I taughtlast weekend, and a reveal of The Big Bow dress I made my daughter (that she actually has worn! Twice!)  Enjoy the weekend, everyone.
