Kid's Clothes Week // Sewn

kidsclothesweek_swimbikequilt.jpg

kidsclothesweek_swimbikequiltI usually watch Kid's Clothes Week from the sidelines--this year, I decided to participate!  Whether you sew clothes for children or not, you should check out the Kid's Clothes Week Blog or the Elsie Marley's Flickr Group--prepare to be amazed.Of course, I had no dreams of elaborate clothing or perfectly pleated dresses, but I did want to take the week to finish and start a number of little projects for my kids that I have put off for too long.I made aprons for each of my kids (after mom and dad's new aprons, they decided they needed one, too.) I made a very sparkly and equally wonky mermaid tail and shirt for my 3 year old. I got out my ruffler (!!! more on that next week) and wanted to ruffle every piece of fabric I own, but I resisted. I did use the ruffler to embellish the hot pink t-shirt (above) for my daughter. She refuses to wear plain t-shirts (and who can blame her), but I was thrilled she wore the "new" shirt and skirt I made her to church yesterday.  The tights and shoes were on her own.I also channeled my inner Mary (my exceptionally talented sister-in-law) and embellished this tee using trim she had given me. Thanks, Mare. kidsclothesweek2_swimbikequiltDo you have any favorite kids clothing patterns? I loved making The Big Bow Dress for my daughter, and I have the Geranium Dress printed and ready to go. What other patterns or tutorials hould I check out??
