Charleston, West Virginia // Favorite Things

A few weeks ago, my family drove out to Charleston, West Virginia for a long weekend. The drive from Northern Virginia to Charleston was just beautiful. Rolling hills. Green trees as far as the eye could see. It was almost worth it just for the drive, even with the 2 extra hours in the car (Unexpected detour--don't believe Google Maps, I guess).We stayed in a beautiful house with generous hosts on a large acreage. The kids ran free and played and played--they especially enjoyed playing with the dogs and the endless supply of dress up clothes. And the walk to see the neighbors' goats and horses and donkey and bull--that was a highlight!We enjoyed touring the State Capitol and walking around downtown (Ellen's Ice Cream = excellent!) and seeing the QUILT SHOW hanging in the Capital Visitors Center celebrating West Virginia's Sesquicentennial. That was pretty cool. I'd love to go back and spend time hiking and biking and eating and playing.
