Block 2 of the Summer Sampler 2016 launched today! It has been so fun to see blocks popping up (already!) in the #summersampler2016 hashtag on Instagram (I'm @swimbikequilt) as well as in our Facebook group. This block, Summer Slice, is designed by Allison Harris of Cluck Cluck Sew, and she has a blog post today where she shows how different fabric choices change the look of the block. Definitely worth checking it out.

I spent quite a bit of time this past week at the International Quilt Market*, held in Salt Lake City. More on that later this week, but I must have really liked the Cotton and Steel booths, because I came home and decided I needed to add a bit into my quilt. The little fish is from Sarah Watt's new line, From Porto with Love.I was luck to snag a fat quarter bundle of From Porto with Love (shown above) at Sample Spree. The sheep are from an older line by Alexia Abegg called Clover. My husband says this is his favorite block ever, due to the fish

International Quilt Market is a semi-annual trade show that is closed to the general public. Vendors, fabric manufacturers, and designers show their new products and fabric lines at Market. It is held every fall in Houston, and the spring show rotates locations. Since it was 20 minutes from my house this year, I attended as an "industry professional" (as opposed to a buyer, author, etc.) Sample Spree is where a number of fabric companies and vendors sell fabric, rulers, notions, etc., which in theory are then used to make samples out of the new lines.

We have quite a number of newer quilters that are sewing along with the Summer Sampler, so I thought they would appreciate the photo below. I was glad I realized there was a cut in my white fabric *before* I sewed the block together. Phew!
