Summer Sampler 2016 // Weeks 7, 8 and 9
Trail Crossing Block, designed by Lee Heinrich of Freshly Pieced (Lee has an awesome new website. You should definitely check it out!)Where is the summer going? I can't believe this is week #9 of the Summer Sampler 2016! Almost half way there. Yeah!We have been traveling over the last few weeks, so today I am sharing blocks 7, 8, and 9. I have brightened my color palette quite a bit with these blocks. I'm still on the fence about whether I am going to remake some of my earlier blocks or not, but I have a month or two before I need to decide. This is Deck of Cards, designed by Lynne Goldsworthy of Lily's Quilts. Lynne shares a new-to-me method for paper-piecing half square triangles, no trimming required, it is pretty brilliant. I am definitely going to use this method again. Lynne also shared multiple fabric placement mockups for this block on her blog, it is amazing how many different looks this block has. This is Curves, designed by Karen Lewis of Karen Lewis Textiles. I have officially sewn more curves with these blocks than I have in a while. As you can see, I am an exact-ish quilter, because being a perfectionist quilter stresses me out. I'm okay with that.I've really enjoyed trying new techniques with these blocks--it is a great skill builder if you are on the fence about joining in.Happy sewing. All of the Summer Sampler 2016 details are below–you can join in at any time! If joining after Week 1, you will receive all of the patterns already released, including the current week’s pattern.
