Bootcamp Skill: Half Rectangle Triangles
Have ever searched the internet, looking for information on Half Rectangle Triangles? I did, and realized that there are a lot of different ways to make HRTs, many of which seem to contradict each other. As I was writing my Summer Kites block pattern, I realized that I needed to dig a little deeper into Half Rectangle Triangles first.
I made about a hundred HRT Units, using different starting size rectangles, investigating different angles and what they do for a finished product, trying different rulers (there are quite a few out there) and different trimming and construction methods.
As a result, I have written several tutorials, created a Half Rectangle Triangle Cutting Chart, made HRT blocks in 10 different sizes, sewed together an entire HRT quilt [more on that + a quilt tutorial on my blog in October], and am happy to share what I learned! Happy Half Rectangle Triangle making—it’s a great skill to add to your quilting repertoire.
