Summer Sampler 2016 Starshine Block
I love Mondays, because it means a new Summer Sampler 2016 block is released! Today's block is Starshine, #16, designed by Holly DeGroot of Bijou Lovely.
This week's block is all about paper piecing. If you need a quick refresher, Faith has a paper piecing tutorial from an earlier Summer Sampler block, but the process is the same. Lee has a great paper piecing tutorial on Bernina's blog.
And my advice--this block has 8 paper pieced segments. Instead of cutting out the 5 pieces (x 8 blocks) before you start, cut out 1 block's worth. Sew the block up, and make sure all of the pieces are big enough for the way you like to paper piece. If I had done this, I would have made the yellow piece a little bit bigger. I didn't carefully check my segments as I was piecing them, and had to cheat and add a little fabric to the star points. It isn't anything you can really notice, but I would have preferred to check my pieces first!I know it seems like summer is over, but don't despair! We still have 4 more weeks of Summer Sampler fun.
