The Awakening Statue // Favorite Things

 One of the most interesting public art installations in the area, this is the recently moved statue, The Awakening.

We met my parents, who are visiting for a week or two, for dinner tonight. As we were driving home, we rounded a corner and came upon this. It was seriously the most breathtaking sunset I have seen in a long, long time. The Potomac River was awash in pink and orange and salmon and every color in between. Sadly, there was no where to park and get out, so I (safely) took this picture as a drive by from my car. When I went around the block again, the sunset had vanished.
