My Quilt Along quilt is coming right along . . . I have basted it and even started on the quilting.  I didn't get a picture of the quilt top before I started basting it (afternoon rain in Virginia is more common than I remembered!) This morning, I ran outside in jeans and a long sleeve shirt in 90 degrees to snap a very quick picture in my semi-shady, mosquito infested backyard. I also ran out of basting pins, so used spray baste for the last part.  That's how we roll in the summertime, I guess. But it gives you an idea of what the quilt will look like

Today's post is about assembling the quilt top. You should have foundation pieced your blocks, sewn them together, and taken the paper off by now.
Baby Quilt Stats: 40'' x 48'', four 12'' string blocks
Large Throw Quilt Stats: 64'' x 80'', four 20'' string blocks
Remember, there are no Quilt Along police, you are welcome to make your pieces bigger or smaller than the instructions say. Other ideas include using different colored neutrals in the background, or piecing strips of colored fabric into the background like I did.

Note: If you want to add something different, try piecing a strip of fabric into one of the long white strips, like I did.
