Today is the day! The Summer Sampler 2019 Finishing Instructions have been sent to all subscribers. Want to make this quilt? It isn't too late! You can get the pattern here.

This quilt pattern is genius in how it goes together. Faith definitely knocked it out of the park with this quilt layout.

There are two options for printing the curves template. The first is to print on normal, 8-1/2'' x 11'' paper and cut them out and tape them together, and the second is to print an 18'' x 24'' paper at your local copy shop, which is what I did. (There are specific instructions in the pattern.)

I had the copy shop laminate mine; I was curious to see if it would make it easier to cut the quilt out or not.

I did not trace mine, but instead just cut out around the laminated template, because I like living on the edge (and am impatient). I did find the laminated template to not want to stay in place, so I used double sided tape and taped it onto each and every square, adding tape as needed. Much better that way.

One piece of advice: Almost all of the curves we have sewn with this sampler have been quarter circle curves, where you match the centers, and then match the ends, and then pin or glue as much as you want in between. For those curves, I literally just pinned in the middle and the ends and then eased the curve together as I sewed. This is NOT the same method used when sewing more gentle curves. As you can see, the arc of this curve is very different than the arc of a quarter circle curve. You don't sew them the same way! Once I got that through my head, they turned out much better

I pinned with the gray on top (this is the same curved piece, front and back) and also sewed with the gray on top. I really did use this many pins on every curve, for whatever reason, ultra pinning every 3/4'' or so apart worked a lot better for me!The gray is cut bigger than the navy on purpose, so that you have a little wiggle room to trim each block (i.e. don't line up the gray and navy ends and then try to ease the curve together. I tried that! It doesn't work).I found the DE Templates to be easiest to sew, so my advice is to start with those! Happy sewing
