Summer Sampler 2018 // Block #11 // Eiffel Tower

I have officially entered into August Mom phase--which is not to be confused with June mom [who has planned camps and educational experiences and all sorts of happy things] and July Mom [who is considerably less enthusiastic and might slip in an "all you can consume media day" once or twice]. August mom is all about Papa Murphy's take n bake, macaroni and cheese, and trying desperately to ignore the dying garden and lawn at her house, comforting herself with the phrase, "I live in the desert, after all."

August Mom also means, I guess, that I am enjoying sewing the Summer Sampler blocks, but haven't quite got my act together to take pictures during the day time, or even completely press the block. It is what it is. And it is a fabulous block!See that double star right over France? That is right! We are back to Paris this week. Yippee! I have never actually been to Paris, but with a daughter in a French immersion program, I'm thinking at some point, I'll make it over there. Right!!? Please say I'm right.

Designed by Rebecca Bryan of Bryan House Quilts, this awesome block is from the perspective of looking up, under the tower. "Look Up" is always great advice, and I love how she translated her vision into fabric. This block, similar to Block #5, Points, combines foundation paper piecing and curves. I thought the curves seemed a bit easier this time--maybe because we were trying to easy fewer seams into the curves, or maybe because this was curves 2.0. Either way, I'l take it!

Also. Glue Basting was great. I highly recommend that.
