Observatory Block of the Month--The April Star Block + Hourglass Video
Today is the block release day for the April Star, the fourth block in the Observatory 2021 Block of the Month. Everyone who has subscribed has received an email with a link to download the April Block pattern. If you haven’t subscribed yet but would like to, please join in at any time. I have put together a short series of emails that you will start to receive once you join, that talk about fabric choices, the Facebook group, suggestions on how to stay organized, etc.
As a reminder, the blocks are delivered once a month, on the first Monday of the month.
This month’s block introduces Hourglass block units. I put together a quick video tutorial to accompany this pattern. And if you need a laugh, I made the video just after dyeing Easter eggs with my kids, so my fingers are dyed all sorts of garish colors.
The blocks are oversized—16-1/2’’ x 16-1/2’’—and fun to sew!
This beginner-friendly sampler pattern features 12 different block designs and is suitable for all skill levels.
Complete finishing instructions to make a 64'' x 84'' quilt
The quilt pattern is written with instructions specific to the solids quilt blocks (shown below), and I have included cutting instructions for the rainbow blocks!
Unlike the last two blocks, there is no paper piecing in this month’s block!
